15 Helpful Hints for Stress Management at Work
Get Ready with Planning:
- Clarify goals the night before the workday. Prioritize goals in the morning.
- Schedule breaks, social and silent.
- Delegate: GET SUPPORT.
- Be flexible within your time-guide.
- Identify the specific problem causing the stress, and choose your response:
- Solve it (external solution)
- Adapt to it (internal shift)
Get Set with Communication:
- Speak slowly and listen carefully.
- Learn to say "NO" in a diplomatic style.
- Avoid contact with emotionally-draining, negative people.
- Use e-mail or text messages for quick, concise communication.
- Clear your mind before an important conversation:
- Meditate,
- Listen to music,
- Take a walk outside.
GO with Physical Health:
- Eat healthy, non-processed foodavoid caffeine, sugar, salt, and fat.
- Drink at least 1 liter of water while at work.
- Exercise daily.
- Breathe deeplyschedule fresh-air breaks instead of cigarette and snack breaks.
- Spend at least 20 minutes outside in the sunlight every day.
